Welcome to Moorcroft Secondary

We hope this letter finds you well and excited for the upcoming school year. As we prepare for the first day of school, we want to express our appreciation for your ongoing support of your student’s educational success.

At Moorcroft Secondary, we believe that education is a partnership between students, parents, teachers, and the community. Together, we strive to create an environment that fosters academic excellence, personal growth, and a lifelong love of learning. As we embark on this journey together, we would like to highlight a few important aspects of the upcoming school year:

Welcome Back Assembly: Students will attend a short assembly to kick off the school year on August 19th for expectations and the organizing of Homecoming, which will take place the week of October 6th–11th.

ParentSquare App: We will continue using this app as our primary means of communication between the school, staff, parents, and students. Staff will do their best to communicate as efficiently as possible throughout the day, but please allow time for responses as their days are busy. If you feel an issue needs immediate attention, please contact the office, and we will do our best to assist you. If you need help setting up the app on your phone, please stop by the office.

Parent-Teacher Conferences: Regular communication between parents and teachers is crucial. Parent-teacher conferences will be scheduled throughout the year to foster collaboration and track student progress. Please check the school calendar and watch for announcements with dates and times. Even though it is only one scheduled event per semester, continued communication with teachers is very important to help everyone stayed in formed about your student.

Continued Expectations for the Upcoming Year:

• Semester Tests:
  - All students in grades 7–8 will be required to take semester tests.
  - Students in grades 9–12 will be required to take a semester test in each class unless they have a C or higher in every class, no more than two absences per class per semester, and 10 or less tardies. All absences except for School Activity and Weather will count against the student for the semester test policy.

  - Tests will be administered at the end of the fall and spring semesters. Please review testing dates on the calendar and plan trips accordingly. Students who are not present for semester tests will receive a zero for those tests. Extenuating circumstances that cannot be foreseen will be considered.

    • 1st Semester Tests – December 17th–18th
    • 2nd Semester Tests – May 20th–21st (Seniors will test the week prior)

• Pocket Knives: Pocket knives of any size are not allowed at Moorcroft Secondary. Parents will be asked to pick up any confiscated items. Continued violations will result in further consequences.

• Eligibility for Athletics and Open Campus: Eligibility will be determined on a Thursday-to-Thursday schedule this year. Students will receive a grade warning on Monday and must be passing by Thursday morning. This will impact both athletic eligibility and open-campus privileges.

• Cell Phone Policy: Per district policy, no cell phones are allowed in hallways or classrooms during the school day, except at lunch. Students may not have them in their possession during these times. If a phone is seen, the student will be asked to turn it over. Any messages for students should be sent through the office and will be delivered immediately.

We look forward to another year of growth, learning, and achievement. Your support and involvement are vital to the success of our school community. Should you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please contact the office at 307-756-3446 or reach out to Nick Redden at reddenn@crook1.com.
